2016 MLB Draft: Brewers hold 4 picks in top 100
- Updated: April 11, 2016
With the 2016 MLB First-Year Player Draft less than two months away, the Milwaukee Brewers are in position to add quality young players to their improving farm system.
Due to their unforgettable season a year ago, the Brewers hold the No. 5 overall pick in June’s MLB Draft. This is Milwaukee’s highest pick since they selected No. 5 overall when they drafted Ryan Braun in 2005.
The Brewers have four total picks in the top 100 selections (No. 5, 46, 75 and 82).
The draft bonus pools are also set for the 2016 MLB Draft with the Brewers holding the seventh largest bonus allotment in baseball at $9,364,300.
The pools are set up for negotiating and paying out bonuses to players selected in the first 10 rounds of the draft, while each selection comes with a recommended bonus slot value.
It is specified in the CBA that bonus slots rise in line with MLB revenue growth. This means the bonus increased by 4.6 percent last year.
The MLB Draft begins on June 9 in New Jersey. For the best MLB Draft coverage check out The3rdManIn.com for player interviews and profiles, along with analysis on players and the draft.
