Brewers draft prep players Tristen Lutz, Caden Lemons

After selecting college second baseman Keston Hiura in the first-round, the Milwaukee Brewers turned their attention to prep players with their final two picks on Day 1 of the 2017 MLB First-Year Player Draft.
With the 34th overall pick in the Competitive Balance Round A the Brewers selected well-regarded prep outfielder Tristen Lutz.
A 6-foot-3, 210-pound centerfield from Martin High School in Texas, Lutz’s top trait is his notable right-handed power. He also has good pitch recognition and is capable of using the whole field.
While, he’s committed to Texas, signability shouldn’t be a concern. The signing bonus slot value for the No. 34 overall pick is $1,983,600, but expect the Brewers to pay him more than the suggested value for the pick.

In the second-round, the Brewers drafted Alabama right-handed pitcher Caden Lemons with the 46th overall pick.
Lemons is a 6-foot-6, 175-pound righty with a low three-quarters delivery. He has a four-pitch mix, featuring a mid-90s fastball, a slider, a curveball and a changeup.
His arm slot creates deception, but at times he struggles to repeat his delivery, affecting his control.
The signing bonus slot value for the No. 46 overall pick is $1,493,500.
