Brewers: Phil Bickford suspended 50 games
- Updated: December 9, 2016
Milwaukee Brewers right-handed pitcher Phil Bickford has received a 50-game suspension, after testing positive for a drug of abuse for the second time. He reportedly tested positive for marijuana before being selected in the 2015 MLB First-Year Player Draft.
MLB.com ranks Bickford as the Brewers No. 5 prospect. He was acquired by the Brewers at this past season’s trade deadline in a move that sent left-handed reliever Will Smith to the San Francisco Giants.
Bickford, 21, has electric stuff and finished last season at Class A-Advanced.
