Packers vs. Patriots: Preview, Prediction
- Updated: October 1, 2022
The Packers are coming off a surprising road victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last Sunday. It was a matchup of two of the NFC’s top teams, and the Packers prevailed, playing well in all aspects of the game.
On Sunday, the Packers (2-1) host the New England Patriots (1-2) at Lambeau Field. The Patriots are without starting second-year quarterback Mac Jones, who is out with an injury.
Defensively, the Packers will need to focus on stopping the run. The Patriots will likely lean on running back Rhamondre Stevenson and Damien Harris, with Brian Hoyer starting at QB.
The Packers’ offense has performed well after a lackluster showing against Minnesota in Week 1. Bill Belichick-led defenses are always difficult to play against, and he will likely implement schemes to make it difficult for QB Aaron Rodgers to succeed in the passing game. But with Rodgers’ track record, the Packers’ rushing attack and the emergency of Romeo Doubs in the passing game, the Packers should score enough points.
The Packers played poorly in Week 1, beat the mediocre Chicago Bears in the second game and defeated the NFC’s top team last week. It’s hard to know what to expect from the Packers each week, but seeing them lose Sunday would be a shock.
Prediction: Packers 24, Patriots 13
